Troops of Sector 7, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have intercepted six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers, recovered seven firearms and arrested the suspects during a stop-and-search operation in Kaduna State.
The operation was carried out at about 9:40 a.m. on Monday at the Samaru checkpoint in Samaru Village, Zonkwa District of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area. According to the military, the suspects were travelling in an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz with registration number EDO GUE-722-LV from Jos, Plateau State, to Niger State.
A statement by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, said the troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, four sub-machine guns and the vehicle conveying the suspects.
The statement added that one of the suspects attempted to escape during the operation but was immediately subdued. The suspect is reported to be in stable condition and is cooperating with investigators.
The military said the suspects and recovered items are in custody for further interrogation and intelligence exploitation as investigations continue.
Operation ENDURING PEACE commended members of the public for their cooperation and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the appropriate security agencies.
