His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, received the BusinessDay Governor of the Year 2026 Award on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the BusinessDay 14th Annual CEO Forum held at Eko Hotel, Lagos.
The award was presented under the States Competitiveness and Investment Readiness Awards (SCIRA), through which BusinessDay recognised Governor Yusuf’s leadership and Kano State’s growing profile as a destination for business and investment.
Speaking after receiving the award, the Deputy Governor said the honour reflects the progress recorded by the present administration across education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, commerce, industrial development and social welfare, noting that these strides continue to shape Kano’s economy and strengthen its appeal to investors.
He conveyed Governor Yusuf’s appreciation to the organisers for the recognition and stated that the Governor dedicated the honour to the people of Kano State in acknowledgement of the roles played by the State Executive Council, the Legislature, the Judiciary, traditional and religious leaders, civil servants, development partners and the private sector in advancing the state’s development.
Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo added that the recognition provides fresh encouragement to sustain policies and initiatives that support enterprise, widen economic opportunities and improve the wellbeing of the people of Kano State.
The BusinessDay Annual CEO Forum brought together senior government officials, business leaders, policymakers and other distinguished participants from across the country to examine issues shaping Nigeria’s economic future while celebrating excellence in public sector leadership and business.
