Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has commended Rotary International for its sustained humanitarian contributions and called for stronger collaboration to accelerate development in the state.
Governor Mutfwang made the call on Wednesday in Jos when the Rotary International District Governor, District 9127, Rotarian Engr. Sikiru Awonikoko, paid a courtesy visit to the Plateau State Government.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, acknowledged Rotary’s contributions to healthcare, education, youth development, sanitation, community empowerment and support for vulnerable populations.
He said the state government recognised the important role of reputable humanitarian and development organisations in complementing government efforts and extending interventions to communities.
Mutfwang assured the Rotary delegation of the government’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the organisation, stressing that sustainable development could not be achieved by government alone.
He said his administration’s development agenda was focused on security, human capital development, infrastructure, economic growth and social wellbeing.
The Governor noted that stronger collaboration with service-oriented organisations such as Rotary would help deliver impactful programmes at the grassroots and improve the quality of life of citizens.
Earlier, Awonikoko said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between Rotary International and the Plateau State Government while exploring new areas of cooperation.
He expressed Rotary’s readiness to work with the government to identify sustainable interventions that would address pressing community needs and support development across the state.
The visit underscored the importance of strategic partnerships between government and development organisations in strengthening communities and improving the wellbeing of citizens.
