Security forces in Kaduna State have dealt a fresh blow to banditry after a joint operation led to the dismantling of two major hideouts used to hold kidnapped victims in Makarfi Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement signed by DSP Mansir Hassan, PPRO Kaduna State Police Command.
The clearance operation was carried out in the early hours, at about 8:00am. Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command, working alongside members of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service in Makarfi, stormed suspected bandit enclaves around Durum and Danguzuri communities, areas that extend to the border with Kano State.
According to the Police, the raid followed credible intelligence provided by residents who have been living under the shadow of attacks in recent months.
Two structures were identified and pulled down during the sweep. The buildings, located at Rugar Mijin Goggo and Unguwar Maryamu in Danguzuri, were said to have been used by the bandits as holding camps for abducted persons.
Speaking on the operation, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the action was part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal groups freedom of movement across the state and to restore safety for residents and their property.
“Joint security patrols are still ongoing in the area and normalcy has been restored. The general area remains calm,” Hassan stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised both the vigilance group and members of the community for their cooperation. He described their support as critical to the success of the mission and to sustaining pressure on criminal networks.
CP Muhammad also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining the offensive against banditry and other forms of criminality in Kaduna State.
He urged residents to keep sharing timely and credible information with security agencies, noting that community partnership remains one of the most effective tools in the fight against insecurity. The police said operations in Makarfi and other flashpoints will continue in the coming days.
