Today, 1 September 2026, marks the 14th anniversary of the historic launch of the Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme championed by His Excellency, Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Launched on 1 September 2012, the programme was a bold and visionary investment in the intellectual and human capital of our society. It provided opportunities for 501 carefully selected scholars to pursue postgraduate studies in reputable universities across the globe, with many of the beneficiaries achieving outstanding academic excellence.
Fourteen years later, the impact of this visionary initiative is evident. The programme has produced more than 500 PhD holders, many of whom are now contributing their expertise in universities, research institutions, industries and organisations across the globe. Some have risen to become CEOs, senior executives, institutional leaders and employers of labour, creating opportunities for others and contributing significantly to economic and societal development.
This is more than a scholarship programme; it is a legacy of human capital development. It demonstrates the far-reaching impact of investing in people, knowledge and education.
As we commemorate 14 years since the launch of this remarkable initiative, we celebrate the scholars, their achievements and contributions, while recognising the foresight of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whose commitment to education continues to produce dividends across generations and beyond borders.
