The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Langtang North Central State House of Assembly election, Hon. Nandir Lar, has provided food items, cash and detergents to more than 200 widows across the constituency.
The gesture was carried out through her philanthropic initiative, the Jagoran Talakawa Widows’ Outreach, at the Pil-Gani Market Square.
The beneficiaries were drawn from 121 polling units across the nine federal wards of the constituency.
The widows, dressed in colourful uniforms, expressed appreciation for the gesture through traditional dances and prayers for the APC candidate.
Speaking at the event, Lar, popularly known as “Gimbiyan Gani,” described the outreach as an expression of compassion and concern for vulnerable members of society.
She said the initiative was not intended as a political programme but as an effort to remind widows that they remain valued and recognised in the community.
“This is not a political programme but a deliberate effort to remind our widows that they are valued, recognised and not forgotten,” she said.
Lar said the Jagoran Talakawa Movement represents her commitment to humanity and inclusive service, adding that she would sustain and expand the initiative if given the opportunity to serve the constituency.
She also pledged that the widows’ outreach would become an annual programme.
Goodwill messages at the event centred on unity within the APC and prayers for peace and development in Langtang North and South, Plateau State and Nigeria.
Among those who spoke were the APC Chairman in Langtang North, Hon. Selbol; Leader of the Langtang North Legislative Arm, Hon. Nanloh Miri-Dashe; and President of Tarok Youth Worldwide (TAPYA), Amb. Miri Timnan Nyantau.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Diggai Comfort of Warok Ward thanked Lar for remembering widows in the constituency.
She prayed for her elevation to a position of greater responsibility, where she would have the opportunity to extend her support to more vulnerable people.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including former Provost of the Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Dr. Amos Bulus Cirfat; former Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Brian Dadi; traditional rulers, clergy, women leaders, political stakeholders and supporters from Langtang North Central and beyond.
The outreach provided relief to the beneficiaries while also promoting a message of solidarity, compassion and community support among residents of the constituency.
