The Head of Civil Service of the Federation urges Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board to ease access to affordable housing finance for federal public servants.
The Head of Information and Public Relations Unit of the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB), Obiechina Ngozi, made the information available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mr Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, gave the charge when the management of FGSHLB paid a courtesy visit to his office.
Abel urged the board to simplify its procedures, remove unnecessary bottlenecks and adopt more responsive approaches to housing finance.
He said easier access to housing loans would improve the welfare of public servants and support the Federal Government’s efforts to promote home ownership among workers.
The HCSF also emphasised the need for the board to ensure that its housing finance schemes remained affordable and accessible to eligible Federal Public Servants.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of FGSHLB, Hajiya Salamatu Ladi Ahmed, thanked the HCSF for his guidance and assured him of the board’s commitment to improving access to affordable housing finance.
Ahmed said the board had taken the directive seriously and would work to ensure that eligible Federal Public Servants could obtain housing loans through a simple, transparent and responsive process.
She said the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board would also strengthen collaboration with relevant government agencies, financial institutions and private-sector stakeholders to develop sustainable and affordable housing solutions for Federal Public Servants. (NAN)
