ANSACA’s Vision Aligns With Soludo’s Health Revolution And Value Reformation Agenda – Mefor

The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, unveiled its maiden newsletter and telehealth service to strengthen the state’s HIV response.
The event, held in Awka, with the theme, “Harnessing Digital Innovation to Strengthen the HIV Response: Bridging Communities and Advancing Health in Anambra State”, was attended by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor.
Performing the unveiling ceremony, Dr Mefor commended ANSACA for the progress made in less than five months since the Executive Director, Dr. Nkem Okeke assumed office, saying the agency is moving in the right direction.
The commisioner, who conveyed goodwill from the Solution Government of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, described Soludo as a leader of rare capacity whose leadership leaves no segment behind, including the vulnerable, adding that the revival of ANSACA and the head-hunting of Dr Okeke underscore the governor’s commitment to those often abandoned.
Addressing stigma, Mefor, a psychologist, noted that what kills faster than the virus is stigmatisation and loss of hope, stressing that HIV is no longer a death sentence, even as he urged Ndi Anambra to get tested early, as the virus can now be controlled for a full, healthy life, while still avoiding risky behaviours.
He linked the new ANSACA telecare platform to the state’s broader telemedicine revolution and noted that Anambra, a national award winner in health, now offers specialist care from any ward primary health centre. “Even if there is no doctor in your facility, you will now have a doctor through telemedicine,” he said.
He further revealed that the initiative aligns with Soludo’s vision to transform Anambra beyond physical infrastructure to character and values, noting that the renaming of his ministry to Information and Value Reformation is to restore authentic Anambra virtues and build Anambra into a smart mega-city.
Earlier, Executive Director of ANSACA, Dr. Nkem Okeke, said the launch was not just about phone numbers and a publication, but about bridging the gap between information and action, and between communities and life-saving services.
He disclosed that since April, the agency has tested over 2,500 persons through community, motor park, workplace and tertiary institution outreaches, and has made Anambra the only state in Nigeria with Ward Action Committee on AIDS (WACA), and CACA for campuses.
