The newly elected member of the House of Representatives for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has pledged to prioritise development projects and effective representation during his remaining months in the National Assembly.
Kallamu made the commitment after winning the September 19 bye-election conducted to fill the vacant seat previously held by the late Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.
He said his immediate priority would be to attract projects and programmes capable of addressing the developmental needs of communities across Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye local government areas.
“I will use the remaining period of my tenure to pursue projects and programmes that will bring development closer to the people. My priority is effective representation and ensuring that the people feel the impact of their mandate,” he said.
The lawmaker-elect said he would work with government agencies, stakeholders and community leaders to attract interventions that would improve the lives of residents across the constituency.
He appealed to the people of the three local government areas to remain united, assuring them that their interests would remain at the centre of his representation.
Kallamu described his victory as a collective achievement and thanked the electorate for entrusting him with their mandate.
He also expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, APC leaders and stakeholders for their support, while commending party members, campaign teams, traditional rulers, community leaders and other supporters for their contributions to the victory.
The newly elected lawmaker further promised to remain accessible to his constituents and work to justify the confidence reposed in him through effective representation.
Kallamu emerged victorious in the bye-election held on September 19 to fill the vacant Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye seat following the death of the former representative, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.
