Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the presidential campaign train for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu tagged “The Tinubu Must Go Again 2027 (TMGA 2027) has held the North East Zonal campaign for President Tinubu’s re-election campaign in Yola, Adamawa state capital on Thursday.
National Coordinator of the TMGA 2027, Professor Sheriff Almuhajir appreciated the massive crowd of supporters that turn out to witness the campaign saying that, the gathering was strategically held as part of move to counter claims or narrative that President Tinubu lacks sufficient support base in Northern Nigeria.
Professor Almuhajir explained that the rally was organised voluntarily to demonstrate support for the president and communicate the administration’s reform agenda to Nigerians.
“We are here to inform Nigerians that Northern Nigeria understands the history of this country and the trajectory of its development. Nigeria was built through the contributions of leaders from different regions, and we believe the country must remain united,” Almuhajir said.
Professor Almuhajir said the campaign believed the policies being pursued by the president would help lay the foundation for sustainable growth urging Nigerians to consider the economic challenges facing the country within the context of the administration’s reform agenda, arguing that difficult decisions were necessary to achieve meaningful economic transformation.
He also highlighted President Tinubu’s contributions to the advancement of Northern politicians for supporting three candidates from the region, two of whom were from Adamawa State noting that the gesture reflects the president’s willingness to support the political aspirations of leaders from the North.
The coordinator described the turnout as a response to claims that President Tinubu could not be effectively marketed in Northern Nigeria.
“Thousands of young men and women marched for more than a kilometre in support of the campaign, while members of the public expressed solidarity along the route. We knew the president enjoyed support in Yola, but we did not expect this massive turnout,” he said.
Speaking at the rally, Adamawa State Secretary of the APC, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, said the president’s longstanding political relationship with the state and federal infrastructure interventions were reasons for continued engagement with the electorate.
“We are committed to mobilising our people in support of his second-term ambition. We will vote for APC from top to bottom,” he said.
The Deputy Chairman of the Adamawa State APC, Dr Raymond Chidama, who represented the state chairman, thanked the campaign leadership for choosing Adamawa as a starting point for the mobilisation drive.
The chairman said, the Yola rally was part of its nationwide strategy to engage young people, women, professionals and community leaders ahead of the 2027 election, with a focus on promoting continuity, stability and prosperity under the Tinubu administration.
Our Correspondent reports that the rally, held at the famous Lamido Cinema, attracted supporters and representatives from the six North-East states including Borno,Bauchi,Yobe, Gombe,Taraba and Adamawa.
