The District Head of Gwarzo, Alhaji Bello Abubakar Tuta, has commended Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, founder of the MAAUN group of universities, for donating two hectares of land to the Gwarzo community for the establishment of a new cemetery.
The district head described the gesture as a significant act of Sadaqatul Jariyah (ongoing charity), expressing confidence that the donation would provide lasting benefits to the community.
Alhaji Bello made the remarks on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, shortly after Dr Aliyu Yusuf Kakaki, representative of Professor Gwarzo, formally conveyed the donation to the community.
He explained that the donation came at a crucial time, as the existing cemetery in Gwarzo had reached capacity, necessitating the provision of an alternative burial ground for the community.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Gwarzo Local Government Area, the district head expressed profound appreciation for the professor’s continued contributions to the development of the area, particularly in education and other humanitarian initiatives.
“We thank Almighty Allah for choosing this son of Gwarzo to undertake such a noble act. He has established a school for us and carried out other charitable projects. Today, he has sent his representative to donate land for a cemetery as an act of Sadaqatul Jariyah. This is a source of pride for the entire people of Gwarzo,” he said.
Alhaji Bello noted that providing land for a cemetery was a commendable charitable undertaking, given the essential role burial grounds play in community life and the inevitability of death.
He added that the people of Gwarzo could only express their gratitude through prayers, asking Allah to reward Professor Gwarzo abundantly, grant him good health, have mercy on his departed ancestors and enable him to sustain his contributions to societal development.
The district head observed that the donation was among several contributions Professor Gwarzo had made to the community, expressing hope that he would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents and advancing the development of the area.
He described the professor as a committed contributor to community development who had consistently supported projects intended to improve the lives of the people. He therefore urged residents to continue praying for him and encouraging his philanthropic efforts.
Alhaji Bello also called on the people of Gwarzo to support the university established by Professor Gwarzo in the town by encouraging their children to enrol and take advantage of the educational opportunities it offers.
He emphasised that education remained a cornerstone of sustainable development, noting that the establishment of a university in Gwarzo represented an important opportunity to expand access to higher education, empower young people, stimulate economic activity and contribute to the wider development of Kano State.
The district head assured Professor Gwarzo that the traditional leadership and elders of Gwarzo would continue to cooperate with him in advancing development initiatives. He also urged other members of the community to support his efforts in the collective interest of the area.
He concluded by praying that Allah would continue to grant Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo the strength, good health and resources to sustain his charitable endeavours for the benefit of the people of Gwarzo and Kano State at large.
