Kano Assembly Confirms Bature, Gani As Commissioners

The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa as Commissioner for Information and former Speaker, Balarabe Sa’idu Gani, as Commissioner for Solid Minerals.
The confirmation followed a screening exercise during Tuesday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf had earlier forwarded the names of the nominees to the Assembly for screening and confirmation to fill vacancies in the two ministries.
Speaking after his confirmation, Bature pledged to reposition the state-owned media organisations to enhance information dissemination and improve public access to government activities.
He said plans were also underway to restore the effective operations of Radio Kano, establish an additional television channel for Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) and provide the necessary manpower and equipment for Triumph Newspaper to resume daily publication.
The commissioner also promised to strengthen the Ministry of Information and improve the operational capacity of the state’s media institutions.
