Kano Governor inaugurates standing committee on IGR

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has inaugurated the State Standing Committee on Enhancement of Revenue and directed for the immediate implementation of the Task Force report.

In a statement signed and issued to newsmen on Monday by Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sanusi Bature, the governor said that improving the state’s IGR is essential for its development.

“We need to generate more revenue to fund essential services like education, healthcare, and infrastructure. I am confident that the new Standing Committee on Enhancement of Revenue will be able to help us achieve our goals,” he said.

The committee is chaired by Prof. Ibrahim Magaji Barde and has other members including Abdulkadir Abdussalam (Accountant General), Sani Abdulkadir Dambo (Chairman KIRS), Habu Muhammad Fagge (Executive Chairman PensionBoard).

Others include: Dr. Hamisu Sadi Ali (DG Dept Management Office), Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu (DG Bureau of Statistics), Aminu Shuaibu (SSA Revenue), Ali Kankarofi, Dr. Abubakar Usman Muazu, Jamila M. Abdullahi, Zainab Abdulkadir, and Ibrahim Bawa. Dr. Aliyu Ismail Danmaraya is the secretary.

Prof. Barde thanked the governor for the appointment and pledged to work with other members of the committee to develop and implement strategies to increase the state’s revenue.

“We will focus on expanding the tax base, improving tax collection efficiency, and reducing tax evasion,” he said.
