ASUU-BUK joins NLC nationwide strike

Bayero University Kano (BUK) branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed its members to join the nationwide strike action declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on November 13, 2023.

The ASUU-BUK directive was contained in a statement signed by the branch’s Secretary, Comrade Kabiru Haruna Isa, and issued on November 14, 2023.

The statement said that the union, as an affiliate of the NLC, is calling on its members to join the nationwide strike action in solidarity with other workers across the country.

The ASUU-BUK directive also instructed its members to withdraw their services and should not participate in departmental board, faculty board, Senate Council and committee meetings as well as supervision of the examinations.

The nationwide strike action is in protest against the federal government’s failure to address the demands of the NLC.
