Kano, Zamfara, Plateau: Group Raises Alarm – “Our Democracy is in Danger”

A group, Nigerians Democracy for Vanguards has expressed dissatisfaction over the recent political developments in Kano, Zamfara and Plateau States regarding most of the Court of Appeal Judgements delivered.

The Chairman of the Group, Mustapha Salisu while in an interactive with Journalists in Kano explained that, “Our democracy is in danger as the some parties are simply intimidating the judiciary, threatening judges with all sorts of corruption and they bow to their will.

“This is a playbook as APC now continues conniving with Judges to steal people’s Mandate. The APC and its agents are ceaselessly chosen to stand in the way of justice by making catastrophic threats to anarchy if justice is not served.”

He added that the Judiciary, often touted as the last resort of the common man has always been an arm of government with a chequered history while Parties to issues brought before the Judges are always hopeful of favourable outcomes and are, in fact, heavily invested in these expectations.

“Even in cases where the layman may dismiss as unworthy of adjudication, the judiciary is still expected to sit, decide and make legal pronouncements.  With all this expectation. However, the APC government never went after APC Governor’s as they did in the case of Dauda Lawan Dare of Zamfara State because it was never about corruption but the election of people’s choice. The APC has, over the years, built a bad reputation for the judiciary.“

Mustapha Salisu further called on the attention of the international community and, indeed, Nigerians to the menace as plot to steal the mandate of millions of people of Zamfara State is in the pipeline.

“The system is compromised. APC is winning everywhere, there is no single dignity in Nigeria, the APC that put this country in worse  situation and was voted in 2023 election, and now very unfortunate that Zamfara people came en mass and vote for their choice and now see what’s happening against Governor Lawan Dauda Dare. We will definitely continue to call the International community, all well wishers and Nigerians to pray consistently for Allah’s intervention against mischievous arrangements that will cause a lot of mistakes by the Nigerian judiciary.”
