Abdulmumin Jibrin Urges Tinubu to Increase Funding for Foreign Affairs Ministry to Achieve “4D” Foreign Policy
Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, member representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency, kano and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to find ways of making drastic increments of funding for the Foreign Affairs Ministry to achieve his dynamic, effective and ambitious 4D foreign policy of Democracy, Development, Demography and Diaspora.
Jibrin made the call in a joint committee meeting for the budget defence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which he co presided over with his counterpart and Chairman of, the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello on Monday.
The joint committee appraised the 2023 and scrutinised the 2024 appropriations of the ministry.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar who lead the foreign ministry team shed more light on the 2024 appropriation bill and details of the president’s wide range foreign policy agenda.
The committee agreed that with the current 2024 budget allocation of the ministry, such a laudable with a wide scope foreign policy agenda of Mr president cannot be realised.
The committee therefore recommended a drastic increase in the allocation of the ministry and promised to work towards that by discussing with the Senate president and the Speaker, the Appropriations commiittees of both chambers and even if it will require seeing the president to explain things to him.
