Abstain from Participating in National Planned Protest, APC Women Leader Urges Women
From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
The National Chairperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Voice organization, Hajiya Binta Baba Gawu, has cautioned women in the country to distance themselves from joining the planned massive protests against President Tinubu’s government over the current hardships.
Hajiya Binta made the warning while interacting with newsmen in Kaduna. She explained that “unknown youths are planning a major protest, pretending to shut down the country’s activities for ten days,” which she described as detrimental to the economic development of Nigeria.
The APC organization Chairperson also called on aggrieved youths to embrace dialogue rather than embark on protests that would further harm the nation’s living conditions.
“I’m sure women in the country wouldn’t allow their sixty percent vote cast for the victory of President Ahmad Bola Tinubu to be wasted,” she stated. She further urged the aggrieved youth to cancel the planned protest for the sake of national unity, prosperity, and development.
“The present rise in commodity prices results from accumulated stress inherited from previous governments, not from the immediate past President Buhari,” she added.
“I am confident that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s commitment, expertise, integrity, dedication, and focus will effectively tackle the menace of insecurity, hardship, and economic challenges facing the nation.”
Hajiya Binta Baba Gawu advised women in the country to take measures to reduce hardship during these tough times. She suggested being more prudent with available resources and finding alternative means and substitute products to manage the current challenges.
She also appealed to political office holders to emulate the sacrifices made by the National Assembly and organize fundraisers in the spirit of collective sacrifice towards rebuilding the national economy.
The organization noted, “We have directed all thirty-six states, including Abuja, to conduct campaigns to inform our fellow women about the dangers of and to desist from unlawful protests.”
