Adamawa: 2 Suspects Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping, Killing of 6-Year-Old

From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a 6-year-old minor. The suspects, Muktar Mohammed and Hussein Suleiman, both 20 years old and residents of Bashin Village, Yoro Local Government Area, Taraba State, are currently in police custody.

According to a press statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Friday, the police received a report from one Edwin Eze, a resident of Tudun Wada in Ganye LGA, about the abduction of his 6-year-old son by some intruders.

The suspects allegedly forced their way into Edwin’s compound in the wee hours of Wednesday and kidnapped his son, demanding N10,000,000 as ransom for his release.

The statement further revealed that the suspects demanded and collected an additional N152,000 for feeding their victim while waiting for the ransom. Unfortunately, they killed the innocent minor out of desperation and anxiety.

The police detectives, led by SP Mohammed Yahaya Nuhu, the DPO Ganye, swung into action to rescue the victim and arrest the suspects.

During preliminary investigations, the suspects confessed to conspiring and jointly kidnapping the victim to a forest lying across the border between Nigeria and Cameroon Republic.

They also admitted to killing the victim by inflicting severe injuries on him using a knife until he bled to death. They then buried the corpse in a shallow grave and continued demanding ransom until their arrest.

The police have assured the parents of the victim and the public that the suspects will be prosecuted after investigation.
