Adamawa Approves N11.4bn for New NYSC Camp, Health, Water, Electricity Projects

The Adamawa State Government has at approved contracts worth N11.4 billion for various developmental projects, including ; the construction of a new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp at Malkohi in Yola South Local Government Area, at a cost of N7.7 billion.
These decisions were reached at weekly executive council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri held at Government House Yola Wednesday
State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, dropped the hint in an interview with journalists shortly after the meeting explaining that, the NYSC camp project has been divided into 21 lots, to be handled by 21 contractors, and is expected to be completed within six months from the date of contract signing.
Iliya stated that the new camp will enable the government to relocate NYSC activities from the current temporary site in Damare community in Girei local government area to Malkohi town in Yola South local council in the state.
According to the commissioner, the council also approved the remodeling and upgrading of Cottage Hospital, Gulak, in Madagali Local Government Area, at a cost of N1.5 billion. The project, to be executed by The Reach Shortskill Limited, is expected to be completed within 52 weeks.
In addition, the council approved the renovation and upgrading of Cottage Hospital, Guyuk (Phase II), at a cost of over N693 million, to be completed within 52 weeks by Samima Investment Limited.
Similarly, Mr. Iliya announced that the council awarded a contract for the procurement of drugs for the State Medicine Distribution Centre, Kofare, at a total contract sum of over N499 million. The supply is to be completed within a few weeks by Malina Pharmaceutical Limited.
On water projects, the commissioner revealed that the council approved the upgrade of the Guyuk Water Supply Scheme at a cost of over N499 million. The project, to be handled by Hill Water Resources Nigeria Limited, is expected to be completed within three months.
He added that the water scheme had been neglected for several years, and the government deemed it necessary to revive it to ensure that residents of Guyuk enjoy the dividends of democracy like other communities.
Furthermore, Mr. Iliya said the council approved an upward review of N117 million for the rehabilitation of electricity supply at Bahuli in Mubi North Local Government Area, to be completed within three months by the same contractor, Messrs S and S Business Bureau Limited.
