Adamawa Gov’t Signs N80billion MOU to Boost Electricity, Modernized Transportation

The Adamawa State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two companies, A4&T Power Solutions Limited and Sparrow Mobility Limited, to boost electricity supply and modernize transportation in the state.

Signing of the contractual agreement took place at Government House, Yola on Monday.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, described the deals as a major step toward economic growth, industrial transformation, and better living standards. He assured investors of full government support.

Governor Fintiri urged the contractors to adhere strictly to the contractual specifications and to deliver at the right time as agreed stressing that reliable electricity will drive industries, agriculture, and job creation.

Accordingly the first agreement was with A4&T Power Solutions Limited which will generate and distribute power across the state while second  leg of the contract was with Sparrow Mobility Limited for the assembly and use of electric motorcycles and tricycles will provide safer transport, reduce emissions, and create jobs for youths.

Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Hon. Adamu Atiku, explained that over ₦80 billion will be invested to generate 15 megawatts of power in five years through mini grids, hybrid, and solar systems.

He added that Sparrow Mobility plans to deploy 10,000 electric motorcycles and bicycles within two years with charging and assembly plants in the state.

Also speaking, Mr. Ayo Ademilua CEO  A4&T Power Group explained that the company has mapped out areas across major local governments in Adamawa State to determine the right type of power projects needed.

He said some places will require interconnected mini-grids, others isolated mini grids, while some will need long distribution systems. According to him, the company has over 12 years of experience in deploying power projects in Nigeria and is committed to tailoring solutions to the state’s needs.

The Commissioner for Transport, Wunfe Anthony, thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for supporting the partnership,  She said the agreement will help Adamawa State move towards clean energy, reduce carbon emissions, and promote eco friendly transportation, bringing benefits to both the environment and citizens.
