From Umar Dankano, Yola
As the holy month of Ramadan draws to an end, Muslim faithful are doubling up their efforts in performing good deeds to attract more rewards from the creator as displayed by prominent Adamawa-born philanthropist cum politician, Hamisu Idris Medugu recently.
Medugu, who holds the traditional title of sardauna of Madagali, organised a well-attended Ramadan breakfast (iftar) for stakeholders, APC party executives of the Northern senatorial district, friends, well-wishers, and community leaders at his cosy home in Yola.
The lavish Ramadan breakfast presented the core values of unity, brotherhood, hospitality, compassion, and collective reflection while serving as a strategic platform to strengthen ties ahead of future political engagements. Attendees shared meals, prayers, and discussions focused on the peace, progress, and development of Adamawa North and the state as a whole.
Medugu while addressing the attendees used the opportunity to disclose his political desire to aspire for the position of the Adamawa North senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress, APC platform in the 2027 elections
He explained that his aspiration is rooted in a genuine commitment to serve the people through dedicated, inclusive leadership and effective representation at the national level.
“I humbly seek the prayers, support, and cooperation of our people as we work together for a better Adamawa North,” he stated, emphasizing his track record of philanthropy, community support, and consistent engagement with constituents.
He opined that, the Northern senatorial district deserves quality representation with a view to bringing more federal presence in the zone applauding the contributions of other senators who also did their best.
Some political pundits in the state viewed his position as a right step towards the right direction highlighting Medugu’s
generosity to the public ranging from educational sponsorships, healthcare assistance and empowerment initiatives for youth and women across the state.
“Hamisu Idris Medugu has built a reputation as a tested and trusted figure in Adamawa politics, who deserves to be allowed to serve come 2027.
“Though he previously vied for the same senatorial position but couldn’t make it then. This is showcasing his enduring resolve and grassroots connections”. The source emphasized.
The Iftar was widely praised by participants for its warm atmosphere and focus on constructive dialogue. Many expressed optimism about his potential to bring purposeful representation to the zone.
