Adamawa: NEDC Charges Contractors To Ensure Strict Compliance With Specifications

The Management of the North East Development Commission, NEDC has charged contractors, supervisors and consultants of various ongoing projects to ensure strict adherence to contract specifications.
Managing Director of the Commission, Mr. Mohammad Goni Alkali gave the charge in Guyuk and Numan local government areas in Adamawa state while projects inspection across the state stressing that the Commission, NEDC don’t compromise on quality and standard of projects it awarded to contractors.
Alkali told the supervisors and consultants who were physically present at various sites of the projects in Numan and Guyuk that the Commission is at liberty to halt or even reject ongoing projects notice to be below agreed specification of each contract awarded at any level.
Alkali who expressed satisfaction with the almost completed Mega primary and secondary project in Guyuk local council encouraged the contractor to maintain the tempo.
He also implored the contractor handling the special works trade center (SWTTC) in Guyuk and the company handling a 5 block of four (4) units of two(2) bedroom houses in Numan local government to comply with the correction observed by his team on their projects so that the desired goal of qualitative output can be achieved.
While answering questions from the press on the rationale behind his team ‘s inspection trip, Alkali explained that they were out on the spot assessment of various projects awarded in the state assuring that all projects with defects must be amended before acceptance by the Commission.
He noted that the essence of the Commission is to intervene in rebuilding structures destroyed as a result of Boko Haram insurgency in the North East zone.
The Managing Director announced that the Commission, NEDC would be adopting more strategies to improving orientation and awareness on best ways to safeguarding these projects in our societies for maintenance concerns.
Our Correspondent reported that the Commission’s inspection team toured most of the locations were their projects are situated with a view to see and hear where challenges are encountered for solutions.
