A total of 15,000 patients are expected to benefit from a four-day free mega medical outreach sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Flagging off the exercise at the Demsa Cottage Hospital on Friday, Senator Yaroe emphasized the importance of healthcare intervention as a critical aspect of leadership, describing it as one of the top priorities of his stewardship in the constituency.
Senator Yaroe, who represents Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, reiterated his commitment to delivering projects with direct impact on his constituents—particularly access to quality and free healthcare services. He noted that similar outreaches had been conducted in other local government areas, some more than once.
He commended the state government under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the ongoing facelift of healthcare facilities across the state, aimed at improving the quality of healthcare delivery.
In his remarks, the leader of the medical team, Professor Michael Missauno, described the outreach as “equivalent to bringing a teaching hospital to Demsa,” revealing that over 5,000 patients had already been registered and more than 50 surgeries successfully conducted.
Missauno explained that the team plans to treat over 15,000 people before the exercise concludes and called on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Senator Yaroe’s humanitarian gesture, noting that “one individual cannot address all healthcare challenges alone.”
“Fifteen thousand (15,000) patients across various urban and rural communities are expected to receive free medical services, including major and minor surgeries,” he added. “I also commend the state government for providing state-of-the-art working equipment, as I saw two new high-quality scanning machines inside this cottage hospital,” he noted.
According to him, the exercise has drawn a total of 155 medical personnel from across the country, offering specialized surgical services, consultations, and treatments to communities within the Adamawa South Senatorial Zone.
Some beneficiaries interviewed at the venue—including Gibson Taraki, who underwent prostate surgery, and Dimas Kechale, treated for hernia—expressed gratitude to the senator for his timely intervention in saving their lives. They also urged other political leaders to emulate Senator Yaroe’s humanitarian spirit.
In their separate remarks, the Paramount Ruler of the Batta Traditional Council, HRM Alhamdu Gladson Teneke, and the Principal Medical Officer of Demsa Cottage Hospital, Dr. Mivinya Pongri, applauded the senator’s initiative, describing it as “a practical demonstration of his love for the people.”
