Ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders from the southern zone of Adamawa State have declared their support for the governorship aspiration of Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei.
The endorsement was made at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Yola on Wednesday, where participants resolved to mobilize support and work collectively towards the realization of Dr. Girei’s ambition, with a view to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.
After a series of deliberations, the group unanimously endorsed Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei as a credible candidate to succeed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, citing his capacity, experience, and track record as key qualities needed to consolidate on the achievements recorded in the state.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the gathering, Alhaji Hamman Kojoli, said the meeting was convened to sensitize communities across various local government areas on Dr. Girei’s vision, commitment, and developmental agenda for Adamawa State.
Kojoli expressed appreciation to participants for their turnout and stressed the need for collective effort in canvassing support for the aspirant to achieve the desired objective in the interest of the state.
He noted that the responsibility ultimately lies with the electorate, urging the group to intensify awareness campaigns to enable voters make informed decisions in the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, Jona Palta from Guyuk Local Government Area described the development as a crucial opportunity to advance the state’s progress, noting that Dr. Girei is a grassroots-oriented leader who demonstrated his capacity during his tenure as Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), particularly through impactful projects in rural communities such as Guyuk.
In his remarks, Shito Adamu from Shelleng Local Government Area said Dr. Girei’s contributions have positively impacted various parts of the state. He added that stakeholders would return to their communities to mobilize support and encourage people to rally behind the aspirant in anticipation of purposeful leadership.
Similarly, a female participant from Ganye Local Government Area expressed appreciation and goodwill on behalf of her people, offering prayers for the success of Dr. Girei’s political ambition.
Our correspondent reports that the meeting brought together key stakeholders and supporters who urged Dr. Girei to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Salihu Bakari Girei is a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, a seasoned educationist, and currently serves as Director of Research and Development at TETFund.
