The administration of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST) has on Tuesday suspended a lecturer over questionable disciplinary actions towards students.
The university management, through a statement signed by Deputy Registrar Sa’idu Abdullahi Nayaya, announced the immediate suspension of the implicated lecturer.
Recall that a viral image surfaced showing students of the university allegedly subjected to corporal punishment for infractions such as tardiness or disruptive behavior in their classes.
The punishments were said to include frog jump among other punishments.
The statement emphasized the institution’s commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment for all students.
“The immediate suspension of the lecturer is part of our efforts to address this situation and ensure that the welfare and rights of our students are upheld.”
Additionally, Deputy Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Sen. Huzaifa Sabo Usman, held an emergency meeting with the university management to address the concerns raised by the viral video.
Following the meeting, both parties reached a resolution aimed at addressing the issues surrounding the incident.
