African Media Network Appoints Kano-Based Journalist to Leadership Role
Kano, Nigeria – Réseau des Médias Africains pour la Promotion de la Santé et de l’Environnement (REMAPSEN), a pan-African media network, has appointed seasoned journalist Khadija Aliyu as Deputy National Coordinator for its Nigeria office.
The appointment, announced in a letter dated May 6, was signed by REMAPSEN’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bamba Youssouf.
Aliyu, an accomplished broadcaster and senior correspondent with Radio Nigeria, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. A graduate of Bayero University Kano’s Department of Mass Communications, she also holds a master’s degree in Communication Studies from the same institution.
REMAPSEN, established on June 13, 2020, is a network of African journalists dedicated to promoting good health and environmental sustainability.
With a focus on public health concerns affecting children, women, and the environment, the organization aims to empower journalists to use their platforms to address health emergencies, epidemics, and environmental issues.
The Nigerian arm of REMAPSEN was inaugurated on November 23, 2023, at an international conference in Lome, Togo, alongside other Anglophone countries. The network’s international headquarters is based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, with Bamba Youssouf serving as President.
