AKTH suspends secondary, tertiary services to enroll 27 HMOs

The National Health Insurance Authority Unit of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano has suspended secondary and tertiary health care services to enroll twenty-seven (27) Health Maintenance Organisations (HMO), with effect from Monday 4 September 2023, due to unresolved issues to do with payment and breaches of agreement.

This was contained in a statement issued by the head of Unit of the NHIA of the hospital Dr Zainab Abdulaziz and made available to newsmen by Hauwa Muhd Abdullahi, Deputy Director Information/Public Relations Unit.

The affected Health Maintenance Organisations (HMO) are Hygiea HMO Ltd (001), Total Health Trust Ltd(002), Mediplan Health Care (005), AHCO Multshied Nig.Ltd (006), United Healthcare Int (007)and Ronsberger Nigeria (010).

Others are In’t Health Mngt S(011), Songhai Health Trust (013), Integrated Health Ltd(014), Sun Managed Health (016), Princeton Health Group (017), Veritas Health Ltd (024), Precious Healthcare Ltd (036), Prepard Medical (030)and United Comprehensive (023) amongst others.

The statement added that any HMO among the 27 whose secondary and tertiary health care services were suspended and wanted a certain number of their enrolle(s) to enjoy secondary/tertiary health care services are expected to write the request accordingly and in line with the new policy.

Head of the NHIA Unit of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano Dr Zainab Abdulaziz urged the enrollees of the affected HMO to seek clarification on any issue that is not clear with them at AKTH NHIS Desk Office at the Complex as the Scheme continue to provide Primary health care services to the enrollees of 27 affected Health Maintenance Organisations.
