Akwa Ibom Police Command Reports Major Crime Crackdown

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intensified its efforts in combating crime across the state, leading to numerous arrests and recoveries in the past week.

Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, on Wednesday.

CP Azare highlighted the Command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and enforcing the law through prompt response to intelligence reports.

He provided updates on various criminal activities, including cases of unlawful possession of firearms, cultism, armed robbery, child trafficking, drug-related offenses, and sexual crimes.

During the briefing, he detailed how operatives swiftly acted on credible intelligence, leading to the apprehension of key suspects involved in organized crime and other unlawful activities.

Recovered items included firearms, ammunition, illicit substances, and counterfeit goods. Several individuals were arrested in connection with violent attacks, drug peddling, and sexual offenses, with investigations ongoing to bring all perpetrators to justice.

The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for crime and urged the public to provide timely intelligence to aid law enforcement efforts. “If you see something, say something, and the Command will do something,” he emphasized.

The police assured residents that all suspects would be duly prosecuted and reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining law and order in Akwa Ibom State.
