Alleged Padding: APC Bigwig Urges Northern NASS Members To Unite
By Abdullahi Yusuf
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Dr Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has urged Northern members of the National Assembly not to allow the current allegations of budget padding to cause rancour and disunity among them.
Kwankwaso said a division among the Northern lawmakers would hinder their efforts to pave way for execution of developmental projects in the entire Northern region.
He made the call while addressing a press conference in Kano on Sunday.
He said the Bola Tinubu administration means well for the 19 Northern States, adding that it is imperative for the lawmakers to unite so as to pave way for development projects to be executed by the Tinubu leadership in the region.
A three-time Commissioner in Kano State, Dr Kwankwaso said that people of the 19 Northern States are looking up to.their members in both the Senate and the House of Representatives to address the myriad of challenges being faced in the region.
On the allegations of padding of the 2024 budget,Kwankwaso said: “The question people are asking is where were the lawmakers when the budget was purportedly being padded and they could not raise such discrepancies either at the plenary or at their collective sitting of caucuses.”
He then disclosed that the Tinubu-led administration had embarked on the execution of various projects across the North including the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway.
According to him, major improvement works are also ongoing on railways in major towns and cities in the region.
The APC bigwig appealed to Nigerian to rally round President Tinubu in his efforts to take the nation to greater heights, pointing out that most of the problems being faced in the country were carried over from the previous administration and that a lot of patience is needed to address them.
“We should give the present government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu enough time to tackle the problems being experienced in the country, and with the collective and concerted efforts of all Nigerians the nation will get out of the situation,” he added.
