The Chairman of AMG Foundation, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, has pledged to provide educational support to a 9-year-old victim of Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) and Rectovaginal Fistula (RVF), covering her primary and secondary school education.
Dr. Magashi made the commitment on Saturday at the AHBN Conference Hall while hosting a technical session with members of KANET and YOSPIS, aimed at strengthening their Operational Plan Guide.
The Chairman also assigned the responsibility of facilitating the support process to both The Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases & Social Vices (YOSPIS) and The Vulnerable People Support and Development Initiative (V-PeSDI) groups.
Speaking to PRIME TIME NEWS, the Executive Director of YOSPIS, Zainab Nasir Ahmad, explained that the team first encountered the girl at the Kwalli VVF Centre a few weeks ago during a Ramadan outreach where they distributed bread as part of a goodwill gesture.
According to her, the team was informed by the in-charge of the centre that the young girl, who resides in Abuja but was brought to Kano for treatment, is in urgent need of support.
She noted that this informed the decision by AMG Foundation to intervene with educational assistance, adding that plans are underway to hold a physical meeting with the centre’s in-charge to further discuss the modalities for supporting the girl.
