Another Group Seeks Kano Emirates’ Dissolution, Sanusi’s Reinstatement

By Abdullahi Yusuf

A group, Coalition of Political Analysts Forum, Democracy Protectors and Good Governance, has asked the Kano State House of Assembly to dissolve the four additional Emirates created by the immediate past administration in the state.

The coalition also called for the reinstatement of the 14th Fulani Emir of Kano,Muhammadu Sunusi II,whom it said was unjustly removed by the past administration.

The requests were contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly signed by its Executive Director,Comrade Al’Amin Albarra, and the Secretary,Saminu Abubakar,a copy of which was made available to Prime Time News on Friday.

The group said the creation of the new Emirates had not only set a bad precedent, but had also impacted negatively on the culture and traditions of the people of the state whom had been ruled by a single Emirate for more than 1,000 years.

“Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala in the Holy Qur’an Chapter 3 Verse 103 instructed all Muslims not to be separated but should do all their activities collectively.

“The creation of the new Emirates, therefore, was done in total disobedience to the instruction of our Creator,Allah(SWT),and should be reversed,” it said.

The Coalition also requested the Assembly to disregard calls by “Amateur Associations” not to dissolve the new Emirates, pointing out that heeding to their calls would not augur well for the peace, progress and development of the state.

Prime Time News reports that the Coalition’s request has swelled the number of groups agitating for or against the dissolution of the new Emirates, thereby enriching the conversation on the dicey issue in the state.
