The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jigawa state has inaugurated a campaign committee for the upcoming February rerun election in Birnin Kudu/Buji federal constituency.
State governor Malam Umar Namadi inaugurated the committee at the APC headquarters in Dutse, appointing deputy governor Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel as the head.
The committee, comprising special assistants to the governor, aims to secure victory for APC in the re-run. Engineer Aminu Usman expressed commitment to campaign vigorously, urging collaboration for success.
Previously, the Appeal Court validated the lower tribunal’s ruling, declaring the 2023 election in Birnin Kudu/Buji federal constituency inconclusive.
The court, led by Justice Ogochuku Anthony Ogakwu, directed INEC to conduct a by-election in eight polling units.
The decision stemmed from an appeal by Hon Adamu Yakubu, the PDP candidate initially declared the winner by INEC.
The re-run involves 6,351 voters in eight polling units, with Hon Magaji Dau Aliyu of APC challenging Yakubu’s victory in the previous tribunal.
