APC Stalwart Advises Tinubu Against Interfering In Kano NNPP Crisis

By Abdullahi Yusuf

As the crisis in the Kano State chapter of of the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya deepens, an APC Stalwart in the state, Dr Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has advised President Bola Tinubu not to interfere in the matter.

The crisis escalated on Sunday with the exit of two members of the House of Representatives, Ali Madakin Gini and Alhassan Rirum, from the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Kwankwaso, in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Monday said his concern came in the wake of a reported meeting between President Tinubu and the Leader of the Kwankwasiyya group, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, allegedly at the instance of Kwankwaso.

“We are aware that a meeting took place between President Tinubu and Kwankwaso this morning, and we suspect that it was in connection with the Kwankwasiyya/NNPP crisis in Kano, because even pictures of Kwankwaso were not allowed to be taken at the Presidency.

“Kwankwaso must have rushed to President Tinubu jittery of the fact that his top allies are gradually leaving him in numbers. The President should not trust him.

“Alhasan Rirum, Madakin Gini, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Baffa Bichi, plus Senator Kawu Sumaila were the ones who in 2023 ensured the voting of NNPP/Abba Kabir Yusuf into power, and today they are leaving, that is why Kwankwaso is highly afraid of their action,” he alleged.

According to the two-time Commissioner of Rural Development in the state, “the current crisis in Kwankwasiyya will consume the movement and by implication, the NNPP.”

“We in the APC are enjoying the drama as it is paving the way for our victory in the 2027 general elections, God willing,” he added.
