APC Wins All Two Seats In Kano Assembly Bye-elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the two seats for the Kano State House of Assembly Bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday.
The APC candidates defeated other contenders to secure the two seats contested for during the poll that was greeted by low turnout of voters.
INEC declared the APC candidates, Aliyu Nabil Daneji and Aminu Sa’ad Sa’ad, winners of the polls held to fill vacant legislative positions in Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies, respectfully.
In Kano Municipal, the Returning Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Tajo Siraj, announced that Daneji secured 7,484 votes to defeat eight other contestants.
The declaration followed the collation of results from the affected polling units, confirming the APC’s dominance in the contest.
The election in Kano Municipal was widely viewed as a show of strength by the APC, as major opposition parties were absent from the ballot.
Despite the clear margin of victory, however, the exercise recorded low voter turnout across several polling centres.
Electoral officials attributed the voter apathy to political fatigue and other local factors.
Nonetheless, Prof. Siraj commended security agencies and election personnel for ensuring a smooth and orderly process throughout the exercise.
Celebrations broke out among APC supporters shortly after the results were announced.
Daneji, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to constituents who participated in the poll and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
In Ungogo constituency, the Returning Officer, Prof. Ali Tijjani Abdullahi, declared Aminu Sa’ad Sa’ad winner after he polled 8,975 votes to defeat all other candidates.
Prof. Abdullahi affirmed that the outcome reflected the will of the people, praising the cooperation of political parties, observers and voters during the process.
With the two seats secured, the APC has further strengthened its representation in the Kano State House of Assembly.
