Arewa Unity Women Donate Relief Items to Special School in Gombe
From Rabilu Abubakar, Gombe
In support of government efforts to improve the welfare of persons with special needs, the Arewa Unity Women in Media has donated mosquito nets, blankets, and mats to students of the Special School in Gombe.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Chairperson of the group, Lois Hassan, said the gesture was aimed at assisting the students and giving them a sense of belonging in society.
She noted that students of the Special School, most of whom are physically challenged, deserve special care and attention through such humanitarian interventions.
According to her, the Arewa Unity Women in Media is a non-governmental organization committed to implementing impactful programs that promote inclusion and support less-privileged members of society.
Some beneficiaries, including Comfort Ephraim and Barisasa David, expressed gratitude to the group, describing the donation as timely and commendable.
They, however, appealed to the state government to restore electricity supply to the school to improve learning and enhance security.
Teachers of the school, Joy Samuel and Maimuna Manager, also lauded the gesture and called on the government to equip the school’s clinic with essential drugs for the benefit of the students.
They further urged other groups and organizations to emulate the humanitarian initiative of the Arewa Unity Women in Media.
During the visit, many of the students were seen jubilating and expressing excitement over the support they received.
