A Kano-based author, Kabiru Ahmad Kwalli, is preparing to unveil a new book titled “Mu San Magabata”, which documents the lives and legacies of 24 distinguished personalities who made remarkable contributions to the development of Kano over the decades.
Speaking to newsmen during a press briefing held on Thursday at Mustibrah Polytechnic, Kano, Kwalli said the book was inspired by his long-standing desire to preserve the memories and achievements of notable individuals whose contributions continue to impact society even after their demise.
According to him, “Mu San Magabata” aims to celebrate those who excelled in various fields such as leadership, education, commerce, and community service but have received little or no written recognition.
“These are individuals who, during their lifetime, sowed seeds of goodness that still benefit our community. Yet, most of them have not been documented by any author,” he explained.
The 24 figures profiled in the book include respected names such as Madakin Kano Shehu Ahmad, Alqalin Kano Umaru, Sheikh Sani Auwalu Darma, Malam Nura Alqali, Malam Adamu Aminu, Alhaji Uba Ringim, Alhaji Imam Wali, Alhaji Ado Dandolo, Councillor Malam Ahmadu Rufai Daura and Alhaji Barau Maiwake.

Others are, Alhaji Baballe Ila, Alhaji Baffa Yola, Alhaji Muhammadu Yankwashi Kazaure, Alhaji Mahe Bashir Wali, Alhaji Sani Gwarzo Gado da Masun Kano, Alhaji Rabi’u Dansitta, Alhaji Lawan Scout, Alhaji Jibir Wudil, Alhaji Abdullahi Bichi, Alhaji Salisu Sambajo, Alqali Husaini Sufi, Alhaji Bala Daneji, Liman Yusuf Abubakar and Alhaji Ibrahim Bello.
Kwalli emphasized that “Mu San Magabata” is only the first volume in a broader effort to document other categories of notable citizens, including scholars, traditional rulers, business leaders, brave women, and reformers who have contributed to the progress of Kano and beyond.
As part of preparations for the official launch of the book, a committee has been inaugurated under the chairmanship of Professor Bashir Yusuf, with Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu Dan’lya and Alhaji Ali Adamu as deputies, while Abubakar Farouk Kabara will serve as secretary alongside other members.

Kwalli expressed appreciation to the committee members, describing them as individuals chosen for their knowledge, commitment, and passion for educational and community development. He thanked them for accepting the responsibility to oversee the book’s unveiling and called for collective support in promoting the culture of historical documentation.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon them.
