By Abubakar Rabilu

Hon. Fatima Muhammad Paga, the UN Women Focal Person to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, express her deepest condolences on the passing of Balkisu Babangida, an esteemed veteran broadcast journalist whose contributions to journalism remain unparalleled.

The death of Balkisu Babangida is a tremendous loss to the journalism profession in Nigeria and beyond.

A statement issued by Fatima Muhammad Paga and made it available to our correspondent said Balkisu was a shining example of professionalism, demonstrating unwavering dedication to the principles of ethical reporting and human rights advocacy.

Balkisu’s career was a testament to journalistic excellence.

She approached her work with integrity, avoiding the pitfalls of using the profession for undue advantage or blackmail. Instead, she took pride in her craft, serving as a beacon of truth and fairness.

According to statement Beyond her professional achievements, Balkisu was a guiding light for many young journalists.

Her mentorship and nurturing spirit earned her the title of a mother figure in the profession, leaving an enduring legacy that will continue to shape journalism for years to come.

Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the Nigerian journalism community and the global media landscape.

On behalf of myself and the UN Women team in Yobe State, I extend heartfelt sympathies to her family, colleagues at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and all members of the journalism profession.

May Almighty Allah grant her eternal rest and comfort her loved ones during this difficult time..
