Banditry: Zamfara Security Trust Fund vows to Mobilize Resources

The Zamfara Security Trust Fund has vowed to seek supports from communities in it’s efforts to mobilze resources with a view to encourage fights against banditry and other criminal activities that bedevilled the state.

This is disclosed by the Chairman of the Fund, former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammad Abubakar during an assessment visit on security challenges to the emirs of Tsafe and Maru at their domains.

Speaking, Chairman of the Fund, IGP Abubakar, said the organization was trusted by the Government of Zamfara State under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal with the responsibility of sourcing for funds for effective security management in the state.

“We need to reach out to communities for collaboration and synergy, being that the organisation was established for the first time in the state, there is the need to sensitize people on its duties and responsibility, ” he explained.

According to him, the other mandates of the trust fund included, critical assessment of security challenges, intelligence gathering and sharing, and procurement of security gadgets as well as logistics materials.

The former IGP further said that the advocacy visit was a demonstration of committee members’ commitment to carryout the task conferred of them, “Let me use this opportunity to condole with the emirs and families of the deceased ones and prayed Allah to grant their souls eternal rest”.

In their separate remarks, the Emirs of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Gado-Maigari and that of Tsafe Muhammad Bawa, expressed their unreserved happiness with the visit and pledged to give all the necessary but credible supports for the return of peace to the state.

“We already engaged ourselves on incessant but special prayers across various mosques within the emirates and has already started yielding fruitful outcomes.

“With the composition of your committee, we believed that the desired objective would be achieved, we therefore, urge you to ensure justice in all your dealings, ” the emirs have pleaded.
