Barau donates 1,000 vehicles to Kano police
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibril, has donated 1,000 vehicles to the Kano State Police Command.
The donation was launched on Saturday at the Bompai Police Headquarters Kano.
Senator Jibril while speaking revealed that the donation aims to improve the mobility and response efficiency of police officers across the state.
While addressing attendees, he emphasized the critical role of the police in maintaining peace and security in Kano.
“I am proud of the police for their tireless efforts in keeping Kano peaceful. This state stands out in Northern Nigeria as one free from insurgency and this is due to their dedication and bravery,” he stated.
The Deputy Senate President reiterated that the donation was part of his vision to support the police and ensure they have the resources needed to perform their duties effectively.
“This is just the beginning,” Barau said. “My intention is to ensure that every policeman and woman in Kano has access to operational vehicles. These vehicles will help them work better and faster in serving the people of this state.”
He further called on all stakeholders, including members of the public, to contribute to the efforts of the police.
“Security is not the responsibility of the police alone. It is a duty for everyone, including the ordinary man on the street. Let us all come together to support the police because they deserve our help,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, expressed gratitude to Senator Barau on behalf of the Kano Police Command and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
“The provision of these vehicles is more than just transportation; it is an investment in the operational efficiency and morale of our officers. It will enhance their ability to respond swiftly and effectively,” CP Garba said.
The Commissioner highlighted Senator Barau’s previous contributions to the command, including the construction of a modern Police Secondary School in Kabo, the renovation of the command’s headquarters, and the facilitation of operational motor vehicles.
“This donation underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing public safety. Like Oliver Twist, we ask for more of such gestures to further support our officers,” CP Garba added.
