The Governing council of the Adamawa state Polytechnic Yola,(SPY) has refuted a purported appointment of an Acting Rector for the institution circulating on the social media space.
Deputy Registrar, information and General Duties of the Polytechnic, Albert Matilah communicated the rebuttal in a press release issued in Yola Tuesday urging the public to disregard such piece of information on the purported appointment.
While disassociating itself from such purported appointment which it declared null and void, the council announced that,it is deliberating on modalities for an Acting Rector to be appointed soonest.
“The general public is called upon to disregard the story making the rounds in the social media that an Acting Rector has been appointed for the Adamawa state Polytechnic Yola.
“This rebuttal was made after an emergency meeting held by the Polytechnic Governing council today (Tuesday),31st March,2026 at the Polytechnic conference hall to consider the expiration of tenure of the former Rector.Prof.Mohammed Dahiru Toungos which ended on 23rd March 2026.
“The council emphatically pointed out that,it was not privy to the purported appointment of Dr.Abubakar Umaru Fota as Acting Rector of the Polytechnic.
“The council disassociated itself from such appointment and declared it null and void as the council is deliberating on modalities for an Acting Rector to be appointed”. The release emphasized.
