BREAKING: CJN Orders Probe of Judges Over Conflicting Rulings in Rivers State Political Crisis

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has ordered an official investigation into judges involved in conflicting rulings on political cases in Rivers State.

The probe, conducted by a panel from the National Judicial Council (NJC), follows controversies surrounding the political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesome Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Rivers State governor.

Justice Kekere-Ekun met with the NJC panel on Monday, instructing them to deliver a report by the end of the week. Judges implicated in the ongoing political disputes have now been summoned to appear before the panel, which is led by a retired justice of the Court of Appeal.

The CJN has also summoned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, who is scheduled for questioning on Tuesday.

According to sources, while formal complaints had already been lodged with the NJC, the CJN initiated this comprehensive investigation independently, responding to widespread public concern over the conflicting judicial decisions.

Two heads of courts are also reported to be part of the NJC panel handling the probe.
