Breaking: Gov. Fintiri Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage for Adamawa Workers
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved a minimum wage of N70,000 for state workers, effective from August 2024.
The announcement was made by Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, following a closed-door meeting with Governor Fintiri in Yola. According to Fashe, state government workers will start receiving their salaries at the new minimum wage from August, while local government employees will benefit starting in September.
Fashe explained that the implementation will use the 2019 consequential adjustment table, pending the release of a new table from the National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission. He noted that the new minimum wage will be applied proportionally based on the previous national minimum wage of N32,000.
The NLC Chairman praised Governor Fintiri for his proactive approach to workers’ welfare and urged civil servants to remain diligent in their roles to help advance the state.
“Governor Fintiri is committed to the welfare of workers, which is evident from the implementation of the new minimum wage even before receiving the national table,” Fashe stated.
