BREAKING: National Grid Collapses, First in 2025
Nigeria’s national power grid has suffered its first major collapse of 2025, plunging the country into a nationwide blackout just 10 days into the new year.
This marks the 13th grid failure in the last 13 months, intensifying concerns over the stability of the power supply.
Checks by Punch correspondents revealed that electricity generation plummeted from 2,111.01 megawatts at 2 p.m. to a mere 390.20 MW by 3 p.m.
A post by The Energy Podcast confirmed the incident, stating, “National grid suffers major collapse… First in 2025.”
An update followed, indicating progress in power restoration: “Restoration has begun… Currently generating 302MW as of 2:40 p.m.”
