BREAKING: NDLEA Arraigns Notorious Drug Kingpin Danwawu in Court
In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) today arraigned a notorious drug dealer, Suleiman Aminu, popularly known as Danwawu, before the Federal High Court 1 in Kano.
The case, presided over by Hon. Justice M.S. Shu’aibu, marks a significant milestone in the agency’s crackdown on long-standing drug networks. Danwawu, a figure infamous for his deep involvement in the illicit drug trade, is believed to have operated an extensive network that fueled drug distribution across Kano and neighboring states for years.
He was apprehended in a coordinated operation by the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police Force at his residence, after which he was transferred to the NDLEA for further investigation. A follow-up operation by the agency reportedly led to the recovery of more illicit substances, strengthening the case against him.
The NDLEA described the arraignment as a decisive step in its ongoing campaign to dismantle drug syndicates and bring major offenders to justice. “This action reflects our commitment under the leadership of State Commander CN AI Ahmad and the directives of our Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd), to rid our communities of the scourge of drugs,” said Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the agency’s Public Relations Officer in Kano.
Following today’s proceedings, the court ordered that the suspect be remanded at a correctional facility pending the next adjourned date.
The agency has urged members of the public to remain alert and continue reporting suspicious drug-related activities, emphasizing that the battle against drug abuse requires collective responsibility.
