By Salisu Hamisu Ali
The newly appointed Second-Class Emirs of Rano and Karaye paid allegiance to the First-Class Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Wednesday.
The visit to the Kano Palace occurred just hours after Governor Yusuf announced their appointments.
The newly appointed emirs are: Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz of Karaye, Muhammad Isah Umar of Rano, and Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir of Gaya.
In a video seen by our correspondent, the Second-Class Emirs pledged their allegiance to Emir Sanusi during a court session on Wednesday.
Both Emirs pledged to work under the First-Class Kano Emirate and thanked Governor Abba Yusuf for deeming them worthy of the appointments.
It will be recalled that on July 16, 2024, the Governor signed into law a bill creating three Second-Class Emirates in the state. Rano will cover Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government areas; Gaya will cover Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government areas; and Karaye will cover Karaye and Rogo Local Government areas.
