BREAKING: Tragedy on Plateau as Saint Academy School Building Collapses, Many Trapped

Two storey building of Saint Academy secondary school in Jos has on Friday collapsed trapping students and teachers who were taking examination at the time.

Prime Time News reports that the collapse building which is two storey building with both Junior and Senior students happened at around 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the school in the Busa Buji community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

When our correspondent visited the site,
emergency responders, including the, Road Safety, Red Cross, SEMA, NEMA, Nigerian Police, Road safety corps and Army were all on ground trying to rescue those trapped in the collapse structure.

Sunday Abdu, the Executive Secretary of Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) told our correspondent in Jos that all men are on ground trying to rescue the students.

Parents were seeing in tears rushing to know the condition of their children, but from all indication most of the students and staff lost their lives.

 

However the extent of the damage and the number of students trapped is yet to be confirmed.

A devastating building collapse at Saint Academy School Jos has left scores of students and staff trapped and injured, overwhelming local hospitals.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, rescuing those trapped under the rubble.

 

However, the influx of victims has overwhelmed local hospitals, leaving many without medical attention.

When Prime Time News visited Plateau Specialist hospital, Ola hospital, Jos University Teaching hospital and Bingham University teaching hospital medical personnel were struggling to cope with the large number of injured, with many victims being turned away due to lack of space.

Parents and relatives of the victims were in a state of panic, searching for their loved ones amidst the chaos.

The exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, but eyewitnesses report seeing multiple ambulances transporting victims to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the building collapse is still unknown.

The school, which housed both primary and secondary schools, was a popular institution in the area, leaving the community in shock and grief.

As the search for survivors continues, the community comes together to support the affected families and demand answers into the tragic incident.
