CDOWA Partners Gombe Ministry to Boost Women’s Empowerment, Security Awareness

The Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs to promote women’s empowerment and security awareness.

During a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Asma’u Iganus, the CDOWA delegation, led by its State Chairperson, Hajiya Hauwa Abdulmumin Muntaz, outlined plans for joint initiatives.

Introducing the delegation, the Desk Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Dorcas Dogara, highlighted the association’s upcoming Gallant Women Drivers (GWD) training programme.

She explained that the initiative aims to empower women by equipping them with driving skills while also enhancing their capacity in security diplomacy and public safety.

According to her, the training will help boost women’s confidence and open opportunities in transportation and security-related services, thereby contributing to economic growth and safety awareness.

In her remarks, Commissioner for women affairs Asma’u Iganus commended the initiative, describing it as a “game-changer” for women in the state.

She assured the ministry’s full support and promised to connect CDOWA with relevant stakeholders for sponsorship and technical guidance.

“This programme will not only strengthen women’s capacity in driving and security awareness but also contribute significantly to our collective efforts in advancing gender equality and community safety,” she said..

CDOWA reaffirmed its commitment to championing women’s empowerment and promoting security consciousness in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs.
