CEHPI Tackles Malnutrition in Kano’s Most Affected LGA

By Hannatu Sulaiman Abba

Aligned with the 17 global sustainable development goals, focusing on health and education in 2023, Community Education and Health Promotion Initiatives (CEHPI) embarked on a mission to raise awareness in Kano’s local government most affected by malnutrition.

Dr. Abubakar Ibrahim Hassan, the Executive Director of CEHPI, emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for children under the age of 2 due to the vital nutrients in breast milk.

Kumbotso local government, particularly Gurun Gawa communities, faces challenges with a high number of malnourished children, affecting their overall well-being.

Pregnant women and nursing mothers in Gurun Gawa communities were sensitized on nutritional status and preventive methods.

CEHPI aims to provide basic methods for mothers and caregivers to prepare locally balanced diets for the optimal health of children aged 1 to 5.

Continuing its support, CEHPI is committed to ongoing community sensitization and awareness creation for proactive health prevention in both rural and urban areas.
