Chief Of Army Staff Inaugurates Modern Soldiers Club At Doddan Barracks

The Nigerian Army has inaugurated a modern Soldiers’ Club at Doddan Barracks, Lagos, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare, morale, and cohesion of its Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs).

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, commissioned the state-of-the-art facility on Thursday, during a brief ceremony hosted by the 81 Division.

A statement by Colonel Appolonia Anele,
Acting Director Army Public Relations,
said the project was executed by the Commander, 45 Division Engineers, Brigafier General MO Momoh, under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa.

Speaking at the event, the COAS said the Soldiers’ Club represents the Army’s commitment to providing conducive welfare facilities that foster relaxation, camaraderie, and team spirit among personnel.

He praised the 81 Division for delivering a structure that aligns with his vision of a highly motivated and professional Nigerian Army.

The new facility is designated primarily for Non-Commissioned Officers and is expected to serve as a hub for recreation, informal interaction, and improved bonding within the rank and file.

Lieutenant General Shaibu reaffirmed that the welfare of soldiers remains a top priority under his leadership, adding that such investments ultimately improve operational effectiveness and unit cohesion.
