CITAD Empowers 50 Women in Jama’are with Vaseline, Soap Making Skills

In a bid to combat unemployment and foster entrepreneurship among young women, the Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), in collaboration with E-Trash2cash, organized a skill acquisition training for 50 women from Jama’are Local Government Area.

The training, held on November 27, 2023, equipped the participants with the knowledge and practical skills to produce vaseline and soap using readily available ingredients. The participants were also guided on packaging and marketing their products in both rural and urban markets.

During the training, Khadija Kabir Baba, a training agent from E-Trash2cash, demonstrated the vaseline and soap making process to the beneficiaries, highlighting the financial potential of the business. She emphasized that this venture could generate significant income with minimal investment.

To further empower the participants, Dahiru Abubakar Kundi, CITAD’s program officer in Jama’are, conducted a session on business management using SWOT analysis. He emphasized the importance of developing a viable business model to ensure the success of their enterprises.

The training also covered capital generation strategies, marketing techniques, and online and offline advertising methods. The participants were encouraged to apply the acquired knowledge to establish sustainable and profitable businesses.

In his closing remarks, CITAD’s Executive Director, Engr. Y.Z Ya’u pledged to provide further assistance to participants who demonstrate a commitment to starting their vaseline and soap making businesses.

He also expressed his commitment to providing business skills training to support the growth and sustainability of these ventures.

The training concluded with the formation of four business units, each comprising a manager, supplier, distributors, marketers, and advertisers.

The participants expressed their gratitude to CITAD for its dedication to improving the livelihoods of women in Jama’are Local Government Area.
